The 5Cs of Learning at Kaipaki School
In 2019 through our school production 'The Faraway Tree', we introduced the 5Cs of Learning to Kaipaki School.
The 5Cs are: Collaboration, Communication, Community, Creativity and Critical Thinking.
Each C has 3 actions:
Collaboration; Contribute, Negotiate, Engage
Community: Care, Appreciate, Contribute
Communication: Listen, Speak, Present
Creativity: Imagine, Invent, Experiment
Critical Thinking: Question, Evaluate, Reflect
Throughout the last few years we have been learning about and implementing these tools for learning into all aspects of school life. Each term we have a school wide focus on one of the 5Cs. We learn about this C in many ways. We discuss and unpack the 'actions' of the C (3 words shown below on pictures). We also base and present our fortnightly class certificates around the C, and a strong aspect of our classroom learning is focused on the C also. We share this learning with parents and caregivers, usually via Seesaw.
Our current school wide focus for Term 3 2023 is Communication. Keep an eye on Seesaw for some real life examples of Communication in action!
